How Setronica Created an AI Slack Bot, Part 3: Putting Our Bot to Work

Welcome to the final part of our story about creating an AI Slack bot. In parts 1 and 2, we talked about coming up with the idea and building the bot.

First, we added the bot to our Slack workspace using Slack’s App Directory. This was like giving the bot a special pass to join our digital office. We carefully chose what the bot could do and see, making sure it had the right permissions to help us out.

 

The AI bot brings together two powerful systems, GPT and Gemini, in one easy-to-use interface. This combination allows our team to get different perspectives on problems.

Our bot can handle texts up to 10,000 characters – that’s about 3–4 pages of text. It’s perfect for reviewing reports, drafting proposals, or brainstorming ideas for articles:

The bot understands and can help with multiple languages, even offering translation services. This feature has been a game-changer for our international teams.

 

The Slack bot can attempt to read and process information from web links, expanding its knowledge beyond pre-trained data. While this feature is still evolving (it works about half the time), it’s already proving useful for quick research tasks.

 

From analyzing existing content to generating new text, our bot is a versatile writing partner. It can help with everything from polishing emails to drafting initial project proposals. The bot keeps track of chats, understanding context and managing the flow of your conversation. This means you can have natural, ongoing dialogues without constantly repeating yourself.

 

By combining GPT and Gemini, we’ve created a tool that enhances our productivity and sparks creativity. It’s not about replacing human expertise, but about augmenting our capabilities and opening up new possibilities for problem-solving and collaboration.

Introducing our team to the AI bot

We wanted everyone at Setronica to feel comfortable and excited about this new digital teammate. So, we put together a friendly and thorough plan to introduce the bot to our colleagues.

 

First, we set up a special Slack channel that became the go-to place for anyone with questions about the bot. Whether someone needed help with a command or had an idea for a new feature, this channel was always buzzing with activity and support.

 

Next, we created easy-to-follow quick-start guides and posted them on our company Confluence. These guides covered everything from basic commands to more advanced features. We made sure to use clear language and lots of examples, so even team members who weren’t tech-savvy could quickly get up to speed.

As our team started using the bot, we noticed something exciting happening. People began sharing their own tips and tricks in the channel. Soon, we had a growing collection of user-generated guides and best practices.

 

This open dialogue helped us understand what was working well and what could be improved. It also showed our team that their input was valued and that the bot was here to help, not replace them.

A new era of productivity

One of our main goals is to make the bot even easier to use. We’ve been fine-tuning existing features based on what our team members have told us. For example, we’ve simplified some commands and made the bot’s responses clearer and more helpful.
